  • World Hepatitis Day, observed on July 28 every year, aims to raise global awareness of hepatitis — a group of infectious diseases known as Hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E.
  • World Hepatitis Day is one of eight official global public health campaigns marked by the World Health Organization (WHO).
  • Theme for 2018: “Test. Treat. Hepatitis”.

  • Global Tiger Day, often called International Tiger Day, is an annual celebration to raise awareness for tiger conservation
  • It is held on 29 July annually.
  • It was created in 2010 at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit.
  • The day aims to promote a global system for protecting the natural habitats of tigers and to raise public awareness and support for tiger conservation issues.

  • nvest India and the UAE Minister for Artificial Intelligence (AI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for India – UAE Artificial Intelligence Bridge in New Delhi.
  • This partnership will generate an estimated USD 20 billion in economic benefits during the next decade for both countries.
  • The MoU will spur development across areas like Blockchain, AI and Analytics as data and processing will be a catalyst for innovation and business growth and serve as the backbone of more effective and efficient service delivery systems.

  • Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Shri J P Nadda, launched the National Viral Hepatitis Control Program to mark the World Hepatitis Day 2018.
  • With this initiative, Government is strongly committed to work towards elimination of viral hepatitis by 2030.
  • He also released the Operational Guidelines for National Viral Hepatitis Control Program, National Laboratory Guidelines for Viral Hepatitis Testing and National Guidelines for Diagnosis and Management of Viral Hepatitis.

5. Pradhan lays the Foundation stone for permanent campus for NSTI

  • The Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development &Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, laid the foundation stone for permanent campus of National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) for Women at Mohali, Punjab.
  • This is the first NSTI Institute for Punjab and only one of its kind in India which is exclusively for women.
  • The Minister also launched a unique Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) which would admit differently abled persons as well, also a first of its kind in India at Mohali.

  • Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) was awarded the INFRA Icon Award in the ‘Global Energy’ category at the mid-day INFRA Icons Awards 2018, in Mumbai.
  • ONGC has received this award as a recognition of its valuable contribution in upgrading India as a whole.
  • The ‘INFRA Icons’, a mid-day initiative, aims to bring a change with trendsetters related to the infrastructure of India.

  • Assamese film Xhoihobote Dhemalite (Rainbow Fields) bagged 3 top awards at the 3rd Love International Film Festival in US including best movie.
  • Besides the best film, it also won the awards for best actress and best music at the festival.
  • The film, directed by Bidyut Kotoky, deals with the sensitive issue of children of Assam growing up in violent times & witnessing brutality around them.

  • With India’s archery twin silver medal winning effort in the Antalya and Berlin World Cups, the Indian women’s compound archery team led the chart with 342.6 points, six points ahead of second-placed Chinese Taipei.
  • The team comprises of V Jyothi Surekha, Trisha Deb, P Lily Chanu, Muskan Kirar, Divya Dhayal, and Madhumita.
  • Recurve archer Deepika Kumari had been a former world number one.
  • Deepika and Abhishek Verma are the only Indians in top-10 in the individual categories.
