- Justice Tahira Safdar has been made the Chief Justice of the Balochistan high court, Pakistan, by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar.
- With this move, she became the first woman chief justice of any court in Pakistan.
- In 1982, she became the first woman civil judge in Balochistan.

3. India extends $200 million credit lines to Rwanda

- India has extended $200 million line of credit to Rwanda during PM Modi’s meeting with Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame.
- After discussing measures to strengthen cooperation in trade and agriculture sector with President Kagame, Modi announced that India will soon open its mission in Rwanda.
- The two countries signed agreements on leather and allied areas and agricultural research. In total, the two countries signed 8 agreements.

- The 19th Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations began at the Drass War Memorial in Jammu and Kashmir.
- The Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year for three days till 26th July to commemorate India’s emphatic victory against Pakistan.
- During the war, the Indian Army evicted Pakistani intruders and succeeded in recapturing the Tiger Hill and other posts as a part of Operation Vijay.
5. #Childline1098 Contest- ‘Spot the Logo and Suggest a Tagline’ – launched by Ministry of Women and Child Development

- The Ministry of Women and Child Development launched a contest named – #ChildLine1098 to mark World Day against Trafficking in Persons on July 30.
- The ministry invited people to share images of the ChildLine 1098 logo that they can spot and send it with a tagline.
- This is a part of the steps taken to address trafficking and sexual abuse of children.
- Also, the Ministry of women & Child development signed a MoU with the Ministry of Railways to rescue and rehabilitate runaway, abandoned, kidnapped and trafficked children via Railways.
6. Bihar starts online transfer of diesel subsidy to farmers

- CM Nitish Kumar launched the online transfer of diesel subsidy directly into the bank accounts of farmers in Bihar.
- Now, registered farmers will directly get the payment of diesel subsidy into their bank accounts.
- The scheme reduces the time gap of getting money to bank accounts for diesel subsidy from 3 months to 25 days.

7. Lok Sabha passes Bill on cheque bounce cases

- The Lok Sabha passed the Negotiable Instruments (Amendment) Bill, 2017, which aims to reduce delays in resolution of cheque bouncing cases.
- The Negotiable Instruments (Amendment) Bill, 2017, aims to amend the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
- Negotiable Instruments (Amendment) Bill, 2017 has the provision to allow a court trying an offence related to cheque bouncing, to direct the drawer to pay interim compensation to the complainant.
- Minister of State for Finance Shiv Pratap Shukla said that, 16 lakh cheque bouncing cases are waiting in the subordinate courts and 35 thousand cases in the higher judiciary.

8. Banks and Financial institutions in India signed Pact on Bad Loan Resolution Framework

- The ICA framework is a part of project ‘Sashakt’, which aims to take concerted efforts towards resolving dud loans under Rs.500 crore.
- The project is headed by Sunil Mehta (non-executive chairman of PNB).
- 22 public sector banks (including India Post Payments Bank), 19 private sector banks, 32 foreign banks and financial institutions signed the Inter-Creditor Agreement (ICA) framework.
- The new framework is applicable to accounts with exposures of over ₹2,000 crore where lenders must implement the resolution plan within 180 days.
