  • The University Grants Commission (UGC) has intimated that it has constituted a committee under the Chairpersonship of Prof. M.M. Salunkhe, former Vice Chancellor, Central University, Rajasthan to look into the matters related to examination reforms.
  • The Committee has been asked to submit its report by October, 2018.

  • Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched ‘e-Pragati core platform’ to realise the vision of ‘Sunrise AP 2022’ through this project.
  • e-Pragati platform is a forward-looking digital initiative launched to bridge citizens to 34 departments, 336 autonomous organisations and 745-plus services.
  • The e-Pragati authority will achieve the goals of the project by supporting the 7 development missions launched in the areas of e-Governance, Social Empowerment, Skill Development, Urban Development, Infrastructure, Industrial Development and the Services sector.

  • Myanmar joined the India-initiated International Solar Alliance (ISA)
  • It became the 68th signatory to the Framework Agreement of the ISA that aims for optimum utilisation of solar energy.
  • Myanmar Minister for International Cooperation, Kyaw Tin handed over the ISA Framework Agreement to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj during a bilateral meeting on this year’s Delhi Dialogue.

  • CSIR- National Physical laboratory (NPL) has signed a MoU with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) for indigenous development of petroleum certified reference materials (CRMs) under trade name of Bhartiya Niredeshak Dravyas (BNDTM).
  • This will not only ensure maintaining highest  standard quality ecosystem for petroleum products used by all stakeholders including common man but also will save vital foreign exchange through import substitution for CRMs.

  • Karnataka Bank launched DigiLocker facility for its customers as part of its digital initiative by integrating bank’s MoneyClick internet banking channel.
  • DigiLocker is a key initiative to store the digital documents, by National E-Governance Division under Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
  • Customers can access their digital documents anytime, anywhere and share it online. Digital Locker makes it easier to validate the authenticity of documents as they are issued directly by the registered issuer.

  • The 88 year old former and first finance minister of Chhattisgarh, Ramchandra Singhdeo, had passed away in Raipur.
  • He was born on February 13, 1930 in Baikunthpur in the Koriya district of Chhattisgarh.
  • He had a Master’s Degree in Science and doctorate (PhD) in life science.
  • He served as the Minister of Water Resources before Chhattisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh in 2000.

  • Famous Hindi poet Gopal Das Neeraj passed away at the AIIMS trauma centre. He was 93.
  • Neeraj, who was a Padma Bhushan awardee, had suffered a head injury following a fall at his house in Agra.
