1. Vettel claims 50th win

• Sebastian Vettel in his 50th career Formula One win claimed the lead of this year’s world championship at the Canadian Grand Prix.

• Merecedes’ Valtteri Bottas and Red Bull’s Maz Vestappen stood 2nd and 3rd respectively while Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton stood 5th.

2. Gaurav Bidhuri bags bronze medal in Umakhanov Memorial Tournament in Russia

• In the Umakhanov Memorial Tournament being organised in Kaspiysk, Russia, India’s Gaurav Bidhuri won a bronze medal in 56kg round.

Bidhuri lost to Kazakhstan’s Siroshiddin Abdullayev in a split 2-3 decision, rounding off.

3. Arvind Saxena appointed acting UPSC chief

• UPSC member Arvind Saxena is appointed as the acting chairman of the commission. He takes charge from Vinay Mittal who completes his term on June 19 2018.

4. Grand Finale of the First Hardware edition of Smart India Hackathon 2018

• The Ministry of HRD along with AICTE, Persistent Systems, i4C and IIT Kharagpur hosts the Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2018 – Hardware edition from June 18 to June 22, 2018.

• Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar said that the Smart India Hackathon 2018 is in line with the ‘Make in India’ initiative and is proving to be an important vehicle for hunting new ideas and help them convert them into products and businesses.

5. NITI Aayog announces 3000 additional Atal Tinkering Labs

• NITI Aayog announced its plan of creating additional Atal Tinkering Labs under the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM).
• For this purpose, it has selected 3000 additional schools for the establishment of Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs). In total there are 5441 ATL sponsored schools.

• The selected schools will receive a grant of Rs 20 lakh in the next five years to establish Atal Tinkering Labs for nurturing innovation and entrepreneurial spirit among secondary school children.

6. 12 June: World Day against Child Labour

• The World Day against Child Labour is organised on the 12th day of June every year to raise awareness among people and to prevent child labour.

7. India to host first BIMSTEC war games

• India will host the first military exercise of the BIMSTEC group in Pune, Maharashtra in September.

8. Jane Fonda to receive Lumiere Award

• Jane Fonda will be awarded the Lumiere Award for this year in Lyon, France going to be held between 13th October and 21st October 2018.
• The Lumiere Festival is the largest international festival of classic cinema.

9. Mobile banking rank by SBI’s Annual Report: Paytm tops by Volume and Axis Bank tops by value

• Standing at 17.2%, Axis bank has the highest value share of mobile banking transactions.
• Paytm tops the chart by volumes of 22%.
• ICICI bank has 17.1% share by value and 9.7% by volume.
• As per January 2018 statistics, SBI has 19.5% by volume and 16.8% by value of share.
