SBI PO Duties & Responsibilities

State Bank of India, one of the most prominent bank in the nation and stands as a leading recruiter of probationary officers and other special officers, when compared to other banks in India. It recruits the candidates every year through the step-by-step process, including Written Exam, Group Discussion and then followed by an Interview. The selected candidates should be aware of their duties and operations to be handled after their appointment by SBI. Responsibilities of SBI PO

1. During the probation period, candidates have to perform all kinds of tasks including clerical work, loan processing and also customer service. The duration of Probation period is of 2 years. The reason for such diversity in work is to get you acquainted with various working procedures of the bank.

2. Candidates are trained during the probation period for acquiring the practical knowledge in finance, accounting, marketing, billing as well as investment. This is done by entrusting you with jobs of various categories

3. After completion of the probation period they will be posted in any bank branch as an Assistant Bank Manager to handle works on daily customer transactions, passing a cheque, draft issuance, cash management etc.

4. The responsibility of PO is to work as Public Relations Officer. The PO needs to handle customer complaints and address various customer related issues. Matters such as discrepancies in accounts, rectification of undue charges and looking into complaints regarding services provided by the bank.

5. PO includes managerial tasks, such as supervision of clerical work, making decisions for the benefit of the bank, managing cash balance etc. and also verify work done by bank clerk i.e. in cash transactions.

6. Probationary Officers issues ATM cards, chequebooks, Demand Drafts etc. Once the Probationary Officer, get acclimatized to the bank environment and gain experience on working procedures, based on that they will be assigned more responsible work i.e planning, budgeting, marketing, loan processing & approval, and investment management.
